Pakistani tech firms sign major agreements at Dubai’s GITEX exhibition

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi and exhibitors at the GITEX exhibition in Dubai hailed the event on Thursday as a significant platform for Pakistan’s growing IT sector.

The Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) is one of the world’s largest tech events, attracting 6,000 companies from across the globe.

This year’s edition saw Pakistan recognised as the “Tech Destination of the Year,” with a special Pakistan evening held as part of the official programme.

Several agreements were signed by Pakistani companies during the five-day event, which will conclude on October 18. Tirmizi described GITEX as a "great show" for Pakistan, highlighting the opportunities and deals secured by Pakistani tech firms.

“Many MoUs, deals, and agreements were signed, and many new opportunities were given to Pakistani companies,” he said, adding that the exact number of deals would be confirmed once the event concludes.

Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) Chairman Sajjad Mustafa Syed called GITEX a “game-changer” for Pakistani IT startups, with 80 companies from the country participating.

He noted that the slogan "Tech Destination Pakistan" resonated with the audience, leading to multimillion-dollar contracts for Pakistani firms.

TallyMarks Consulting Marketing Manager Muhammad Ali Tahir shared that his company secured a partnership with Obrela, a global provider of cybersecurity services.

This collaboration will enable TallyMarks’ subsidiary, Integrians Cybersecurity Solutions (ICS), to offer comprehensive cybersecurity services in Pakistan.

Premier Cables CEO Shahid Ismail also noted his company’s success, sharing that they secured a new order from Etisalat for fiber-optic cables, continuing a relationship that began at GITEX years ago.
