Take-Two CEO says AI won’t speed up GTA 6 development

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, the publisher behind Rockstar Games, has addressed fan speculation regarding the role of AI in speeding up the development of Grand Theft Auto 6. Speaking to CNBC, Zelnick clarified that while AI tools may improve efficiency, they won’t significantly hasten the game creation process.

"The interactive entertainment business has been in AI forever," Zelnick stated. "Our tools help us become more efficient, but they’re becoming commoditized. AI allows creative teams to focus on innovation rather than mundane tasks, but it won’t make producing hits faster or cheaper."

Fans of the GTA franchise have been eagerly awaiting GTA 6 for nearly a decade, often analyzing teaser content and updates from GTA Online for clues. While Rockstar has confirmed a 2025 release window for GTA 6, a specific launch date remains undisclosed.

Despite delays caused by actor strikes, global health challenges, and technical hurdles, the hype around GTA 6 has only grown. The first trailer, featuring intricate interior designs and signage, has sparked theories about the use of advanced AI for NPCs and locations. However, Zelnick’s comments suggest that such technology plays a complementary role rather than revolutionizing production timelines.

Take-Two remains confident about delivering GTA 6 on schedule, with fans continuing to dig deep into every update as they await the next installment of the iconic franchise.
